Technology provides both opportunities and challenges in creating sustainable life styles. It also gives us tools to help cope with geological disasters. The pace of technological change is increasing, and it will create enormous social upheaval. Social upheaval is a serious obstacle to creating and maintaining the efforts needed for species survival. How can we enjoy the fruits of technological revolution and use them to promote species survival? This is not a trivial question, but we must tackle it to succeed.
